For Potential Little Buddies

Introduction

So you’re a boy without a Dad eh? It’s probably hard for you to watch other boys mucking round with their Dads - kicking balls round, riding bikes, getting help with their homework, mucking about in boats... We feel for you. It’s not easy trying to learn how to be a good man when you don’t have one around to show you how to do it!

That’s why we set up the Big Buddy mentoring programme. So kids like you can have a Big Buddy - who isn’t their Dad - but is a good man who has lots of clues about how to help you grow up to be the great man you want to be. A Big Buddy will do fun things with you, take you out, be there to talk about stuff when you need him to and help you out if you get in a bit of trouble. He won’t be around all the time and he’ll never be your Dad, but he’ll be a man you can trust who will be there if you need him. Sounds good eh?

Lots of boys like you have Big Buddies and they reckon it’s pretty cool having a guy around who cares about them and they can do stuff with. They like it when their Big Buddy comes to watch them play sport (so they don’t feel so stink when the other boys’ Dads are there) and they reckon having a guy to talk to about things makes them feel better. It’s kind of different from talking to their Mum. They say they don’t feel so lonely anymore and that’s got to be good!
