Partner Projects

Our Partners

Our business partners provide a generous helping hand in bettering the lives of boys without dads around. Each partner understands the commitment Big Buddies are making to boys' lives and are thrilled to join the Big Buddy village in making this positive difference.

Foundation Partner

GJ Gardner Homes is our Foundation Partner, and they've gone to great lengths to support the Big Buddy cause.

In 2015 an idea was coined with GJ Gardner Homes, to build selected houses and give the profits to Big Buddy. In August 2017, homes in South Auckland and Hamilton went under the hammer, and again in February 2024 a third was sold, again in South Auckland.  These auctions collectively generated almost $400,000 for Big Buddy. These funds paid for the opening of the Hamilton office and allowed our Auckland office to expand into South Auckland as far as Franklin.

Check out the fantastic TV advertisements (top right) that GJ's put together with media personality Simon Barnett and a host of our wonderful Big and Little Buddies.

Principal Partner

In 2022, Mitre 10 MEGA Hamilton was warmly welcomed to the Big Buddy village as Principal Partner.

We are so grateful they have stepped forward to help us make a positive difference in the lives of boys without dads in their lives.

The alignment between Big Buddy and Mitre 10 is strong. Locally owned with strong roots in their areas, Mitre 10 is well regarded for the difference they make in their communities.

Mitre 10 is a Kiwi success story and has been a big part of New Zealand’s of our DYI culture since 1974. As New Zealand’s largest home improvement and garden retailer, Mitre 10 continues to grow both its trade and direct-to-consumer business.

Starting off strong, Mitre 10 MEGA Hamilton generously arranged for the profits from selected children's products sold in their Te Rapa and Ruakura stores to be donated to Big Buddy in December 2022.

Major Partners

At the end of 2019 we were thrilled to welcome Concretec into the Big Buddy village as a Major Partner. Concretec New Zealand Ltd has been in business for 15 years, supplying reinforced and pre-cast concrete to mainly Auckland and Waikato regions. They are recognised for work on some of the most prestigious construction projects in greater Auckland. We look forward to working with this highly regarded business to make a difference.

Fantail and Turtle is situated on the North Shore of Auckland, right in the middle of Takapuna's bustling Goodside at Smales Farm. Consistent and valued support has seen this business become a Major Partner in 2020. In September 2019, their first fundraiser lunch raised over $40,000 towards matching more men with more boys. Businesses and individuals alike thoroughly enjoy a sumptuous luncheon event for a worthy cause - it's fun, it's social, and everyone knows they are making a difference. Look out for more lunches like this!

Kapura is another 2020 Major Partner addition to our growing village. This 11-year-old Wellington organisation – known to many as Wellington Hospitality Group – is the region’s largest hospitality company, featuring over 25 bars and restaurants, a brewery and a function and events company. They are passionate about seeing Wellington communities thrive and support many initiatives and organisations weekly. Big Buddy was lucky enough to receive $40,000 from a stellar fundraising golf day at Wellington's Boulcott's Farm in 2019.

What's the next step?

Business partnerships are a fun, engaging way to make a positive impact on the lives of boys without a father around. They also leave members of your business community feeling good about their collective contribution to a great cause! Some of those involved become a Big Buddy; some make a donation. Either way, it all helps to make a big difference.
