Big Buddy Scavenger Hunt 2025

Big Buddy Car Scavenger Hunt: Building Skills Through Teamwork and Exploration

Recently, our Big Buddy matches came together for two awesome Car Scavenger Hunts — one in Wellington and one in Auckland — and both were packed with so many great moments that really highlights how activities like this are all part of mentoring boys through shared experiences.

Wellington Mentoring Matches

On Sunday 21st September, twelve Big Buddy and Little Buddy pairs hit the streets of Wellington with cameras in hand and a list of 45 quirky items to find. From creative selfies to uncovering hidden local gems, each team worked together, building trust and connection — key ingredients in positive mentoring experiences.

Auckland Mentoring Matches

Then, on Sunday 12th October, it was Auckland’s turn. Thanks to the awesome team at ASB Showgrounds, Buddies got to kick off their hunt right from the venue itself — a rare treat that set the tone for a day full of exploring, teamwork, and friendly competition.

One Auckland match shared that one of the trickiest clues was finding a police car, ambulance, or other emergency vehicle. In a way, it was a good problem to have — it meant things were quiet out there, which is pretty unusual for Auckland City!

To keep the fun going, a few spot prizes were handed out throughout the day — adding an extra layer of surprise and celebration to the fun.

A huge shoutout to the crew from PDP who generously catered the Wellington event and kept everyone fuelled and happy. Across both cities, the energy was high, and the teamwork on display was inspiring — with some teams managing to tick off nearly every item on the list!

Why events like these matter

These events are a great reminder of what Big Buddy is all about: mentoring boys through meaningful connection, building confidence, and creating strong, lasting bonds between Big and Little Buddies.

Thanks to everyone who came along and made both days so special. We’re already looking forward to next year and new adventures!
