During one of Auckland’s hottest weekends of the year, Quinn Pocock – one half of the dynamic duo known as The Good Eggs – ran an incredible 100 miles (that’s nearly four marathons!) to raise funds for Big Buddy.
Quinn and Henri, aren’t just about talking the talk – they walk, run, and dance the walk. Their mission? To raise money for causes that really matter to them. And their effort for Big Buddy, was nothing short of eggstraordinary.
Sunny Side Up: A Month of Fundraising Fun
November was a whirlwind for The Good Eggs. Their goal? Raise $5,000 for Big Buddy. Their approach? Creative, energetic, and full of heart. Here’s what they cooked up:
- Eggs on Legs – weekly walks to support men’s mental health.
- HIIT with Henri – a high-energy workout session.
- Boogie with a Buddy – a lively night of music and fun at Norma Taps, supported by Orchard Collective.
The grand finale? Quinn’s 100-mile run in 25-degree heat across 6th and 7th December. Despite blisters and fatigue, he kept cracking on, powered by the incredible support of friends, whānau, and the Big Buddy community.
Why They Do It
Quinn summed it up perfectly:
“Bringing a group of people together and creating a space that’s free from judgement, is in our eyes the best way to tackle the struggles our tāne are facing. “Whether that community comes through casual catch ups at Eggs on Legs, letting off some joyful energy at Boogie with a Buddy or doing the hard yards with an amazing support crew at Q’s 100 miles, the overarching impact a bit of support and open conversation can make is undeniably beneficial.”
Henri added :
“What a month! We are so, so happy with the response to our Sunny Side Up fundraising month after a whole range of activities we hope everyone enjoyed just as much as we did! Knowing that we’ve helped Big Buddy guide our rangatahi in the right direction makes all the mahi worth it, and it’s exactly why we wanted to do this in the first place.
Impact Beyond the Finish Line
This isn’t the first time The Good Eggs have scrambled to do good. They’ve supported Run Like a Girl for the Auckland Women’s Centre, championed men’s mental health through Movember, and raised a cracking $10,000 for charities overall.
Big Buddy Co-CEO Christie Stuart was blown away:
“What Quinn and Henri have done is extraordinary. Their creativity and commitment show how much impact individuals can have when they rally for a cause. We would also like to thank friends, whānau, and everyone who donated, danced, walked, and cheered them on!”
Keep the Momentum Going
The campaign hit its $5,000 target – but the Good Eggs aren’t stopping there. Every donation helps Big Buddy continue its vital work of matching boys without dads with mentors who provide guidance, stability, and friendship.
