Where Small Gifts Create Big Impact
They say it takes a village…
we invite you to be part of ours by becoming a Mighty Mate today!
By becoming a Mighty Mate, by signing up for a regular gift today, you’ll help Big Buddies create the little moments that can lead to big futures for Kiwi boys.
You’ll stand alongside our Big Buddies, supporting them every month as they form meaningful relationships with their Little Buddies and doing the little things that make a real impact.
Kicking a football around, building a birdhouse or going fishing. These are all little things that boys with a Dad around can miss out on. As a Mighty Mate, you’ll make sure our Little Buddies get the chance to have those experiences with good male role models.
As a Mighty Mate, your regular gift will help identify the boys that are in need and help find good-hearted men who are willing to share their time.

From Heartache to Healing
Taine and his brother Cullen lost their dad when they were young. Their mum told us, “Watching the boys suffer and not being able to take away their pain was the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced.
Taine would go to bed every night and get up crying and come to me for comfort. Cullen on the other hand locked everything inside, he wouldn’t talk about his Dad or how he was feeling.
Every day after school, Taine would be in the backyard kicking and throwing that ball. I used to watch him as I made dinner and realised that he had missed not having a father figure in his life more than he ever let on.”
Enter Big Buddies Damien and Corey. The bonds between them quickly grew and the boys were happier than their mum had seen them in a long time. Spending just 2 hours a week together made an “enormous, life-changing difference. And they weren’t doing anything special - just going to the park, fishing, bush walks. Laughing and being present.”
10 years on… Taine and Cullen are now kind, well-adjusted young men with positive futures. Mum says, “they wouldn’t be the men they are today without Corey and Damo in their lives, and I’ll always be grateful to Big Buddy for this.”
As a Mighty Mate, you make this possible for boys throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.
