At the end of February, we had the privilege of hosting the annual Wellington Big Buddy Day out at Brookfield Outdoor Education in Wainuiomata.
Luckily and slightly surprisingly, the capital decided to play ball for us providing a stunning day with barely a breath of wind! Each year our Big and Little Buddies look forward to the Big Buddy Day Out. This year was no exception as 50 of our Big and Little Buddies came along for some fun in the sun.
Dave and Steve from the Big Buddy team hosted the day and thoroughly enjoyed watching everyone connect and enjoy each others company over sports games, racing each other down the flying fox, splashing each other in the kayaks or just sitting around for a chat. A brave few even ventured to the outdoor pool for a “refreshing” dip in the cool water.
Once lunchtime rolled around, tummies were rumbling so a dream lunch of sausages and burgers were happily accepted! We had amazing support from a Little Buddy’s Mum, Rachel Millar, who works for Pattle Delamore Partners (PDP). They kindly offered to cover the cost of the catering on the day. Rachel & her team of Katy & Oyla prepared & cooked all the food on the day which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Special thanks also to Big Buddy Allan Johnson for providing the delicious meat patties.
We finished up the day with a traditional lolly scramble, loading up on some sugar before waving goodbye and looking forward to the next catch up!
