A Community Gathering at Brookfield
On Sunday, 23rd February, we gathered at the Brookfield Outdoor Education Centre in Wainuiomata, Wellington, for our annual Big Buddy Day Out. This year was extra special as we extended the invitation to include mums, caregivers, and siblings, making it a true family affair. The turnout was fantastic, and we were fortunate to have the weather on our side!
Building Bonds and Having Fun
From the moment we arrived, it was so awesome to witness the connections between everyone—already matched pairs strengthening their bonds, boys forming new friendships, and families engaging with the Big Buddy mentoring programme. As always, a game of cricket quickly got underway, while others showed us their football skills, perhaps giving us a glimpse of future Phoenix stars! Meanwhile, some Little Buddies took to the outdoor pool, defying the slightly cooler temperatures to perfect their manu dives.
After lunch, the excitement continued, with many taking to the water for some kayaking fun. The day wrapped up in true Big Buddy style with the much-anticipated tug-o-war.
