On Thursday 3rd April, the84 Recruitment 4th Annual Charity Golf Day brought together an amazing group of people for a day of sportsmanship, generosity and golf — all in support of Big Buddy.
The result? An incredible $39,000 raised to help support more young boys growing up without a father figure. On behalf of Big Buddy and 84 Recruitment, we want to say a massive thank you to everyone who showed up, donated, and supported this event. Your generosity, especially in today’s climate, truly blew us away.
Challenging Weather, Unshakable Spirits
There were 21 teams (84 people) signed up and even with an atmospheric river hammering down – all 21 teams turned up to support Big Buddy!
Hosted at the stunning Wainui Golf Club, the weather threw us a few curveballs — but the spirit of the day never wavered. In fact, it only highlighted just how committed this community is to be showing up for a good cause. Special shoutout to Grant Fox a Big Buddy Ambassador and Trustee, who played against everyone on hole 8, for 3 hours is the downpour. Grant supported by our Co-CEO Christie and members of the 84 team brought great energy despite getting drenched.
A massive congratulations to our winning team’s 3rd Place – Okham, 2nd Place – Ray White Mairangi and Murrays Bay and 1st Place – US Tax Pro’s.
A Moment That Hit Home
One of the most powerful moments of the day came from Anoushka, a mum who shared the story of her son Jackson and his Big Buddy, Thomas. Hearing firsthand how this connection has helped Jackson feel seen, supported, and part of a wider community was a reminder of why we do what we do. It brought everything — the rain, the raffle tickets, the putts and prizes — into sharp perspective.
